Michelangelo Buonarroti built an podium for Marcus Aurelius’ equestrian statue and placed it in the centre of the hill in 1537.\nMichelangelo also designed an imposing wide step staircase culminating in the solemn balustrade for Palazzo Senatorio, surmounted by classical marble groups.

The church of Santa Maria dei Miracoli in the iconic Piazza del Popolo, under the Pincio Gardens and Villa Borghese, in the historic center of the eternal city. In neoclassical style, Piazza del Popolo it was the work of the Roman architect Giuseppe Valadier, who in the early 1800s redesigned the entire square.
