The war memorial clock tower in Leek, commissioned by Sir Arthur Nicholson and his wife when their son died in Ypres, Belgium, during World War 1. It was intended as a memorial to all local men who died in that war and later to the dead of World War 2 as well. Made of Portland stone, it's one of the tallest war memorials in the UK.
