Munich, Germany - November 1, 2007: Apollo or Apollon statue in Nymphenburg palace park on a foggy autumn day. \n\nApollo in Greek and Roman mythology is the god of light, healing, spring, moral purity as well as prophecy and the arts, especially music, poetry and song; He is also god of healing and archers.\n\nThe Nymphenburg Palace Park is one of the largest and most important garden artworks in Germany. The park within the garden wall has a size of 180 hectares, the area of the entire park is 229 hectares. The palace garden is located in the west of Munich and is listed as a garden art work and is a conservation area.

Punishment of Ixion, House of the Vettii, Pompeii.\nThis mythological scene shows the moment of Ixion, the Lapith King, being punished for betraying Zeus. \n\nIxion killed his father-in-law becoming the first man guilty of kin-slaying in Greek mythology. He went mad, lived as an outlaw until Zeus had pity and brought him to Olympus and introduced him at the table of the gods. Instead of being grateful, Ixion attempts to seduce Hera Zeus’s wife!\n\nZeus found out about his intentions and made a cloud in the shape of Hera, which became known as Nephele ( from nephos “cloud” ) and tricked Ixion into coupling with it. As punishment, Zeus banishes Ixion from Olympus and orders Hermes to tie Ixion to a winged fiery wheel, which is to spin for eternity.\n\nIn this scene, Ixion is bound to the wheel and Hermes stands in the forefront.

It was built before 138 A.D by P.Quintilius and was dedicated to the Emperor Hadrian, who came to visit the city from Athens in 128 A.D. The Pallas-Athene Fountain (Pallas-Athene-Brunnen) is a wonderful example of artwork created between 1893 and 1902 to give an allegorical representation of the four most important rivers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It stands in front of the Austrian Parliament building, a Greek revival style palace. This impressive architectural complex is one of the most famous landmark of Vienna.
