A Loggerhead Shrike (Lanius ludovicianus) on a stump at the San Jacinto Wildlife Area in Riverside County in southern California. This species is found year-round in most of Mexico and the southern half of the United States and breeds in those locations and farther north into the Canadian prairie provinces.
