The Old Manse was built in 1770 for the Rev. William Emerson, father of minister William Emerson and grandfather of transcendentalist writer and lecturer Ralph Waldo Emerson. n 1842, the American writer Nathaniel Hawthorne rented the Old Manse for $100 a year. The Old Manse The house is located on Monument Street, with the Concord River just behind it. The property neighbors the North Bridge, a part of Minute Man National Historical Park. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966 and is open to the public as a nonprofit museum.

Sedro Woolley, USA - Jul 3rd, 2020: Late in the day the old Northern State Hospital ruins, now part of the Northern State Recreation Area just north of Seattle. Opened in 1912 the hospital once housed the most mentally ill patients in the state. The grounds also encompassed a 700 acre full function farm, it was officially closed in 1973. In 1991 Skagit County purchased the land and transformed it into a recreation area for the public.
