Sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata) is a resilient shrub native to the arid and semi-arid regions of North America, including Yellowstone National Park. It typically grows 2 to 7 feet tall and has silvery-gray leaves with a distinctive aromatic scent. Sagebrush plays a vital ecological role, providing habitat and food for various wildlife, including pronghorns, mule deer, and sage-grouse. Its deep root system helps prevent soil erosion and aids in water retention. Sagebrush's ability to thrive in poor, dry soils makes it a dominant species in the sagebrush steppe ecosystems across the western United States.
