The Pasteur Institute (Institut Pasteur) is a French non-profit private foundation dedicated to the study of biology, micro-organisms, diseases, and vaccines. It is named after Louis Pasteur, who made some of the greatest breakthroughs in modern medicine at the time, including pasteurization and vaccines for anthrax and rabies. The institute was founded in 1887. For over a century, the Institut Pasteur has been at the forefront of the battle against infectious disease. Since 2020, the Pasteur Institute has been working on research into the vaccine against the Covid-19 coronavirus. Marienhafe, Germany - October 13, 2022: Bronze statue of Klaus Stoertebeker by the sculptor Karl-Ludwig Boeke from Leer. Taken on a rainy day with overcast sky in autumn. According to legend, Stoertebeker  was a pirate and one of the leaders of the Vitalienbrueder, also known as the Likedeeler. Klaus Stoertebeker was beheaded in Hamburg on October 21, 1401 with 72 companions. The memorial was unvailed on June 27, 1992 on the market square in Marienhafe.
