The Southern Lights, or Aurora Australis, put on a particularly dazzling display in November 2021. The beams were very high, and there was a great deal of movement. This image was captured at South Arm with Bruny Island on the horizon.

The aurora of 11 May 2024 was one of the most spectacular ever seen. Here it is captured in the Mackenzie district on the South Island of New Zealand, looking across a still lake that reflects its many colors. Multiple beams and multiple colors dance across the night sky. This image forms part of a timelapse sequence. On May 11, 2024, the Arctic light burst was captured in Sunite Left Banner, Inner Mongolia, China. At around 10:25 pm, a strong column of Arctic light was visible to the naked eye flying in the northern sky, piercing straight into the sky.
