The library of Admont Abbey is one of the largest all-embracing creations of the late European Baroque, where many artistic genre epresented through architecture, frescoes, sptures, manuscripts and printed works. The beautiful fresco painted by Giotto depicting Saint Francis talking to birds inside the Basilica Superiore di San Francesco (Upper Basilica of Saint Francis), in the medieval heart of Assisi, in Umbria. Giotto painted a series of great frescoes along the walls of the single nave of the Basilica between 1292 and 1305, depicting the Stories of St. Francis, from his vocation to his death. Built in the Italian Gothic style starting from 1228 and completed in 1253, the Basilica preserves the mortal remains of the Saint of the Poor since 1230. The construction of the Basilica consists of a Lower Basilica and an Upper Basilica, perfectly integrated. Over the centuries Assisi and the spirituality of its sacred places have become a symbol of peace, a point of reference for tolerance and solidarity between peoples and between the different confessions of the world. The Umbria region, considered the green lung of Italy for its wooded mountains, is characterized by a perfect integration between nature and the presence of man, in a context of environmental sustainability and healthy life. In addition to its immense artistic and historical heritage, Umbria is famous for its food and wine production and for the high quality of the olive oil produced in these lands. Since 2000 the Basilica and other Franciscan sites of Assisi have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Image in high definition format.

The Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell’Auricola or also the Sanctuary of the Madonna dell’Auricola stands on the top of the hill of the same name, 270 meters above sea level and a few kilometers from the center of Amaseno. According to historical data and some artifacts found in 1896 it can be deduced that the construction of the sanctuary can be traced back to the early 13th century by the Benedictine monks. In 1897, during the restoration, an abbey seal was discovered on which both the figure of an abbot and an inscription that read: \

Castelpetroso is home to the Shrine of Maria Santissima Sorrows, patron saint of Molise. According to the testimony of the visionaries, the Virgin Mary first appeared on March 22, 1888 to two shepherds named Serafina and Bibiana in Cesa between Saints, on the slopes of Mount Patalecchia. This first appearance was followed by others. This phenomenon was later recognized. The shrine, which began with the laying of the first stone on September 28, 1890 and completed in 1975, is made in the neo-Gothic style; seen from above is composed of seven chapels depicting the seven sorrows of Our Lady, in the center of which there is the dome 54 meters high. The shrine and the place of apparitions are connected to each other by the Via Matris, 750 meters long, where precisely remember the seven Marian sorrows.
