The frescoes depict Stories from the life of the Madonna, to whom the entire cathedral is dedicated. It is one of the largest surviving fourteenth-century cycles in Italy and dates from a few years after that of the Corporal Chapel. The frescoes of the Annunciation and the Visitation of Mary are late fifteenth-century remakes by Antonio del Massaro, known as il Pastura. In the chapel there is a large four-light window characterized by a remarkable stained glass window, the work of Giovanni di Bonino (1328-1334). In pendant with the fresco decoration, the window is dedicated to the Stories of Mary and Christ. The wooden Crucifix which is placed in the center of the chapel, behind the altar, is the work of Lorenzo Maitani, while the wooden choir is the work of various wood inlay artists headed by Giovanni Ammannati (starting from 1329).

A view of the beautiful frescos inside a chapel in the Duomo of Spoleto in the medieval town of Spoleto in Umbria, central Italy. The fresco, which represents a Madonna and Child between St. John the Baptist and Saint Leonard, was made in 1497 by Pinturicchio in a small chapel on the right side of the main nave of the cathedral on commission of the bishop Constantine Eroli. The Duomo, or Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta (Cathedral of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary), was built starting from 1067 in Romanesque and Lombard style and consecrated in 1198. Spoleto, one of the most visited medieval cities in Italy, hosts the Festival of the Two Worlds, a world-famous event that brings together hundreds of artists, musicians, classical dancers and opera singers every year. The Umbria region, considered the green lung of Italy for its wooded mountains, is characterized by a perfect integration between nature and the presence of man, in a context of environmental sustainability and healthy life. In addition to its immense artistic and historical heritage, Umbria is famous for its food and wine production and for the high quality of the olive oil produced in these lands.
