The willie wagtail, scientific name Rhipidura leucophrys. It is a common and familiar bird throughout much of its range, living in most habitats apart from thick forest.
L 19-22cm.\nFamiliar breeder in farmland and suburban areas, and in woodland (esp. with oak). Post-breeding flocks, sometimes of enormous size, forage on fields, in gardens, on cherry trees, on shoreline seaweed, etc.\nIn the Netherlands largely resident, but massive influx from N and NE Europe during Aug-March, some roosting in urban sites.\n\nThis is a very common Breeder in the Netherlands. In Winter there are large Flocks to be seen, which gives a spectacular view in the Sky.\n\nDuring a short Period of Snow in the Winter of 2021, there was an Invasion in my Garden.
