Grey Reefshark or Blacktail Reef Shark Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos occurs in the Indo-West and Central Pacific on continental and insular shelves and oceanic waters adjacent to them. The species is common on coral reefs, often in deeper areas near drop-offs to the open sea, in atoll passes, and in shallow lagoons adjacent to areas of strong currents in a depth range from 1-275m. Palau announced 2009 world's first shark sanctuary, banned all commercial shark fishing within its exclusive economic zone. 600000 sq km (230,000 sq mi) of ocean are protected now.
