Tot 30-39mm, Ab 25-32mm, HW 19-23mm.\nOur most delicate Lestes, which is normally easily separated by its statue and coloration, although some Iberian populations recall L. barbarous.\nHabitat: A wide variety of seasonally dry shallow and reedy waters in the south, becoming more critical in the north-west, where it is most abundant in heath and bog lakes with peat moss (Sphagnum) and rushes (Juncus).\nFlight Season: Northern populations mostly emerge in July, flying into November.\nDistribution: Widespread in Europe, although seldom the dominant Lestes species. Distribution recall L. barbarous, and also tends to wander like that species, though rarely in similarly great numbers.\n\nThis Species is to be seen in the describe Habitats, but not as common as L. sponsa in the Netherlands.

Deutzia scabra, commonly called fuzzy deutzia, is an upright, somewhat coarse, deciduous shrub that typically grows 6-10’ tall with spreading to arching branches that form a rounded crown. It is native to Japan. Mature branching is clad with exfoliating brown bark. Tiny, fragrant, star-shaped, white flowers (to 3/4” long) appear in late spring in upright racemose panicles (to 3-6” long) which cover the shrub for about two weeks. [Missouri Botanical Garden]

General: A local species throughout our area that prefers slow-moving waters, bordered with tall emergent vegetation. The appearance of the male changes dramatically with maturation; vivid orange abdomen turn into black and grey-blue territorial males. \nTot 42-45mm, Ab. 25-29mm, Hw 32-38mm.\nMales frequently perch on waterside plants, making darting flights between perches.\nHabitat: Appears to require a certain combination of water quality and habitat structure (such as Reed borders). Include slow flowing rivers and streams, abandoned canals, reedy lakes and ditches, oxbows and fishponds.\nFlight Season: From April to early August, but activity concentrated in May and June in most of range.\nDistribution: Widespread through M Europe, habitat specific, therefore locally common.\n\nIn the Netherlands the Dragonfly is local common. The Males have a blue Abdomen.

Exuma is a district of The Bahamas, consisting of over 365 islands and cays.\n\nThe largest of the islands is Great Exuma and joined to another island, Little Exuma, by a small bridge. The capital and largest town in the district is George Town. It was founded 1793 and located on Great Exuma. Near the town, but on Little Exuma, the Tropic of Cancer runs across Pelican Beach lending it another name: Tropic of Cancer Beach. Its white sand and turquoise waters make it a world-famous destination.

Tot 35-40mm, Ab 23-28mm, Hw 24-29mm.\nMost often mistaken for S. striolatum, although generally more common than that species in the north of its range. Both sexes are normally swiftly identified by their ‘drooping moustache’, while the female has a perpendicularly protruding vulvar scale.\nOccurrence: One of the commonest dragonflies in north and east Europe, and deep in northern Asia, becoming scarcer towards the south. Appears to be less dispersive than relatives.\nHabitat: All sorts of standing water, generally more lushly vegetated than the breeding sites of S. striolatum.\nFlight season: may be seen from June to November, but most records are from July to September.\n\nThis is a common Species in the Netherlands.
