A photograph showing Sargassum seaweed on the Manzanilla-Mayaro Beaches. These beaches are located on the East Coast of Trinidad. In recent years there has been a significant increase in Sargassum seaweed entering the Caribbean oceans and shorelines. Scientists believe that this increase is due to climate change. In the Caribbean, this increase is significantly affecting the tourism industry and the livelihoods of fishermen and other stakeholders who directly or indirectly depend on the ocean for some sort of resource or resources.
