In the vast desert area of New Mexico in the White Sands National Park area, blooming soap weed yuccas are a wonderful sight. The area is in the Tularosa basin area with San Andres Mountains to the West and Sacramento Mountains to the East. Drifts in the the dunes can be 10' to 60' high. The dunes are a magical and unusual place in the Southwest. The wind-created ripples create a stunning visual of shadows of light and dark.
