During the 1916 Easter Rising, a pivotal moment in the struggle for Irish independence from Great Britain, the building became the headquarters for the rebellion.  It was destroyed by the British forces and rebuilt in 1929 by the Irish Free State.
San Sebastian City Hall is the seat of the San Sebastian city council in northern Spain. An eclectic building, it was built at the end of the 19th century with the aim of being a casino before becoming the town hall in 1947.

People visit the Douaumont ossuary, a memorial containing the remains of some 130,000 soldiers who died on the battlefield during the Battle of Verdun in World War I. It is located in Douaumont, France, within the Verdun battlefield. During the 300 days of the Battle of Verdun (21 February 1916 -€“ 19 December 1916) at least 230,000 men died, though some estimates are much higher.
