Beautiful Swan
Usually, a Canada goose just has to move a yard or two off the water and onto the shore in order for a male mute swan to consider itself the victor. Occasionally, the swan will waddle onto the shore and continue the pursuit there. If the goose just doesn't get the hint, then in a whooping of wings and a splashing of feet, the cob will take off and continue its pursuit in the air. The odd thing is that other Canada geese can swim close by and be ignored. Once he has fixed his target, the male swan is relentless. Any swan with raised wings is in aggressive mood. When swimming, the bow wave at the front shows that the bird is travelling at speed.
The mother of a Mute Swan family will often stay with her cygnets as they grow, and can be very protective, as is seen in this photo.
