The Winona Bridge was constructed in the 1930s as part of the original Route 66 alignment. It served as a vital link for travelers heading westward during the heyday of Route 66, connecting various towns and cities across the United States. As transportation infrastructure evolved, newer and wider highways were built, rendering the Winona Bridge obsolete for modern traffic needs. This section of the original Route 66 roadbed in East Flagstaff, Arizona, has been converted into an urban trail and is part of the Flagstaff Urban Trails System (FUTS). This short trail segment follows a portion of the historic road alignment and honors what was once part of the iconic “Main Street of America.” Route 66 played a crucial role in the development and culture of the American West during the 20th century. The urban trail is designed to accommodate a variety of users, including walkers, runners, cyclists, and skaters. The trail provides scenic views of the surrounding landscape, including the ponderosa pine forests and volcanic mountains that characterize the Flagstaff area. This makes it not only a historical route but also a pleasant and picturesque place for outdoor activities. Overall, the conversion of this section of the original Route 66 roadbed into an urban trail in East Flagstaff serves as a meaningful blend of historical preservation and modern recreational development. Zion National Park is located in the Southwestern United States, near Springdale, Utah. A prominent feature of the 229-square-mile (590 km2) park is Zion Canyon, which is 15 miles (24 km) long and up to half a mile (800 m) deep, cut through the reddish and tan-colored Navajo Sandstone by the North Fork of the Virgin River. The lowest elevation is 3,666 ft (1,117 m) at Coalpits Wash and the highest elevation is 8,726 ft (2,660 m) at Horse Ranch Mountain. Located at the junction of the Colorado Plateau, Great Basin, and Mojave Desert regions, the park's unique geography and variety of life zones allow for unusual plant and animal diversity. Numerous plant species as well as 289 species of birds, 75 mammals (including 19 species of bat), and 32 reptiles inhabit the park's four life zones: desert, riparian, woodland, and coniferous forest. Zion National Park includes mountains, canyons, buttes, mesas, monoliths, rivers, slot canyons, and natural arches.
