Adults of Humphead or Napoleon Wrasse Cheilinus undulatus develop thick lips and a prominent bulbous hump on the forehead and can grow up to more than 2.2 meters. The species inhabits steep outer reef slopes, channel slopes and lagoon reefs. Primary food are mollusks, fishes, sea urchins, crustaceans and other invertebrates. Napoleon Wrasse is one of the few predators of toxic animals such as sea hares, boxfishes and crown-of-thorns starfish. Napoleon Wrasse is is seriously endangered, being hunted to the brink of extinction to feed a growing demand among wealthy Chinese diners for luxury live fish. Not wise, so crown-of-thorns starfishes take over and destroy the reefs. :-( Palau, Micronesia, 7°8'9.15\

Pterocaesio tile grows up to a max. length of 30 cm, the common length is 20 cm. Juveniles occasionally appear in large numbers in shallow lagoons and on reef flats. This species feeds on zooplankton in midwater aggregations and is a typical Tuna baitfish. Palau, 7°4'54.456 N 134°15'43.506 E at 12m depth

Happiness in Nature: This stunning Manta Ray (Manta birostris) image was captured whilst scuba diving in the Andaman Sea, Krabi, Thailand. A rare opportunity to see these amazing creatures up close. Oceanic Manta Rays are in the classification of Elasmobranch and are also commonly known as Giant Manta Ray, Oceanic Manta Ray, Pacific Manta Ray, Pelagic Manta Ray or Chevron Manta Ray. They are gentle, pelagic, plankton feeders and have been classified as 'Vulnerable to Extinction' IUCN red list, due to being target hunted for their meat and gill rakers. However also susceptible to being caught as by catch. Although their numbers are declining at a rapid rate, they are not yet a protected species. This image shows their natural behavior in the wild, as they visit the coral reef to use as a cleaning station, by allowing small fish to clean off their parasites. This is a perfect demonstration of a symbiotic relationship. Several unrecognisable, incidental scuba divers can be seen enjoying the wonders of Nature.
