Rome, Italy, January 29 -- A view of the archaeological area of the Teatro di Marcello (Theatre of Marcellus), between the Jewish Ghetto and the Campidoglio (the Roman Capitol Hill). The theater of Marcellus it's still partially preserved, built on the orders of the emperor Augustus in the southern area of Campo Marzio. The Jewish neighborhood it is the oldest ghetto in Europe, built since imperial times between the Capitol Hill and the Tiber river. Image in High Definition format.

Rome, Italy, November 06 -- A view of Porta Maggiore (The Greater Gate) built by the emperor Claudius in 52 AD and incorporated into the majestic walls that surrounded and protected the imperial city subsequently built by the emperor Aurelian. Eight of the eleven monumental aqueducts in Rome converged at this point, while tombs and small commemorative monuments dedicated to important personalities of the city stood around it.
