This historic property on Marine Parade in Kemptown is Grade I listed and was once owned by the Duke of Devonshire and the Duke of Fife. It was built in 1828 and bought the following year by William Cavendish, sixth Duke of Devonshire, who lived there until he died in 1858. The Duke of Fife moved into the house in 1896 with his wife, Princess Louise, the daughter of Edward VII. The king visited several times, even during his convalescence in 1908. Princess Louise resided here until 1924. The Weston family then bought it in 1947 until the end of the century. The house was taken over by squatters in December 2008 but they'd left by February 2009.
