Copenhagen Citadel is one of the best preserved fortresses in northern Europe. It was build as part of Copenhagen ramparts by King Christian IV from 1624. It is shaped like a five pointed star surrounded by a moat. Apart from a host of office and storage buildings it has its own church and even a windmill.
