The Golden-Mantled Ground Squirrel (Callospermophilus lateralis) is a type of squirrel found in the mountainous areas of western North America. Because of its stripes and cheek pouches the Golden-Mantled Ground Squirrel is often thought of as a chipmunk. It is considerably larger than the chipmunk and lacks facial stripes.
