Israel's march in the wilderness in the old book The Bible in Pictures, by G. Doreh, 1897
Page of the Christian Bible with the title of the First Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians.
Jesus sent two men for a donkey. He rode that donkey when he entered Jerusalem. As Jesus rode into the city people placed their cloaks on the ground in front of him. They celebrated, cheered, and waved palm branches as they cried out, “Hosanna!” The day after arriving in the city, Jesus went to the temple and found people buying and selling things there. He overturned tables and chased people away telling them it was wrong to be conducting business in the temple. The chief priests and scribes heard about this, but did nothing to Jesus at that point. They feared him.
Illustration from 19th century. The blood ride in the Upper Swabian vineyard is considered the largest equestrian procession in Europe and takes place on Friday after Ascension Day, the so-called Blood Friday. It was first mentioned in writing in 1529 and was already known as a custom from the old days. The blood ride is traditionally a pilgrimage for men.
