Florence, Italy – April 08, 2017: Brancacci Chapel in the Church of Santa Maria del Carmine, famous of Renaissance frescoes by Masaccio and Masolino da Panicale, lilippino Lippi
A beautiful view of the archaeological area of the Roman Theater in the medieval town of Gubbio, in Umbria. The amphitheater, completed by the magistrate Gneo Satrio Rufo around 20 BC. in the ancient nucleus of Iguvium (the Roman name of Gubbio), it was built with large limestone blocks worked in rustic ashlar. It has two orders of arches, of which the lower order and some arches corresponding to the upper gallery remain standing. An important town ally of Ancient Rome and built on the communication routes between the Tyrrhenian coast and the Adriatic coast of Italy, Gubbio is famous for its artistic treasures and considered one of the most beautiful medieval villages in Italy. This Umbrian town is also known for the life of St. Francis of Assisi and the miracle of the encounter between him and a wolf, and for the spectacular Festa dei Ceri. The Umbria region, considered the green lung of Italy for its wooded mountains, is characterized by a perfect integration between nature and the presence of man, in a context of environmental sustainability and healthy life. In addition to its immense artistic and historical heritage, Umbria is famous for its food and wine production and for the quality of the olive oil produced in these lands. The frescoes depict Stories from the life of the Madonna, to whom the entire cathedral is dedicated. It is one of the largest surviving fourteenth-century cycles in Italy and dates from a few years after that of the Corporal Chapel. The frescoes of the Annunciation and the Visitation of Mary are late fifteenth-century remakes by Antonio del Massaro, known as il Pastura. In the chapel there is a large four-light window characterized by a remarkable stained glass window, the work of Giovanni di Bonino (1328-1334). In pendant with the fresco decoration, the window is dedicated to the Stories of Mary and Christ. The wooden Crucifix which is placed in the center of the chapel, behind the altar, is the work of Lorenzo Maitani, while the wooden choir is the work of various wood inlay artists headed by Giovanni Ammannati (starting from 1329).

A view of the beautiful fresco inside a chapel in the Duomo of Spoleto, a medieval town in the Umbria region, central Italy. The fresco, which represents a Madonna and Child between St. John the Baptist and Saint Leonard, was painted in 1497 by Pinturicchio in a small chapel on the right side of the main nave of the cathedral on commission of the bishop Constantine Eroli. The Duomo, or Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta (Cathedral of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary), was built starting from 1067 in Romanesque and Lombard style and consecrated in 1198.
