The artist who designed and created these stone lions - on both sides of the Széchenyi Bridge - was so proud that he claimed that if he could find fault with himself, he would get rid of the dog himself.. Legend has it that a boy discovered the lost tongues of lions, and as a result, the artist Marschalkó threw himself from the top of the bridge to his death.\n\nAs romantic as the idea is, many Hungarians may still believe in the myth, while the truth is the opposite - the Four Lions actually have tongues, they cannot be seen only from a pedestrian's point of view. Marschalkó continued to live into the 1870s, even years after the statue's appearance.\n\nLion statues, Budapest, Széchenyi Lánchíd, 1051 Hungary

Budapest, Hungary 21-05-2 .Hsök tere is one of the major squares, noted for its iconic Millennium Monument with statues of the Seven chieftains of the Magyars
Construction began in 1896 to commemorate the thousandth anniversary of the Hungarian conquest of the Carpathian Basin and the foundation of the Hungarian state in 896, and was part of a much larger construction project which also included the expansion and refurbishing of Andrássy Avenue and the construction of the first metro line in Budapest (Hungarian: Földalatti). Construction was mostly completed in 1900, which was when the square received its name. The four allegoric sculptures were added in 1906, the monument as a whole basically looked like it does today (except for the kings' statues), complete with the surrounding museums on either side, and it was inaugurated still in the same year, 1906.\nWhen the monument was originally constructed, Hungary was a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and thus the last five spaces for statues on the left of the colonnade were reserved for members of the ruling Habsburg dynasty. From left to right these were Ferdinand I (relief: Defense of the Castle at Eger); Leopold I (relief: Eugene of Savoy defeats the Turks at Zenta), Charles III, Maria Theresa (relief: The Hungarian Diet votes support for Maria Therese with their vow \

It is 51 m high, with 16 marble faces, and is written in Georgian. The names of more than 4,000 Georgian victims were carved into the memorial in August 2008; they include the names of Georgian military students who died in the fight against the Red Army in 1921, those of the leaders of the anti-Soviet counterinsurgency in 1924, and those of the dead in the 5-day Abkhaz war in 1992 and 1993.
