For the uninitiated, Piazza del Campidoglio is a square open to the public and to access it, payment of the ticket is not required despite the fact that inside it there are a number of artifacts of inestimable artistic value.\n\nThe Palazzo Senatorio is located in Piazza del Campidoglio on the homonymous hill in Rome, and is flanked by the Palazzo dei Conservatori and the Palazzo Nuovo. Today it is the administrative headquarters of the special municipality of Rome. It is the oldest existing town hall in the world.\n\nThe Capitoline Hill contains few ancient ground-level ruins, as they are almost entirely covered up by Medieval and Renaissance palaces that surround a piazza, a significant urban plan designed by Michelangelo.
