A Bee-fly (Aphoebantus melanogaster) with no common English or Spanish name, rests on a rock in the Andes foothills of Chile. The Bee-fly family of insects (Bombyliidae) are generally parasites of true bees (Hymenoptera) and manage to insert eggs and larvae into the nests of the bees, where they prosper on the food supplies within.

Horse-flies and deer flies are true flies in the family Tabanidae. The adults are often large and agile in flight. Only female horseflies bite land vertebrates, including humans, to obtain blood.
