Hverfjall has a large, circular explosion crater, about 140 metres deep and with a diameter of 1,000 metres. Hverfjall is one of Iceland's most beautiful and symmetrical explosion craters, besides being one of the largest of its kind in the world. It is estimated that the crater was created during a volcanic explosion and its likely around 2800 - 2900 years old.

Hvitserkur is a basalt sea stack shaped like a three legged creature.  It's known as Rhino Rock or the troll rock.  It is located off the Vatnsnes Peninsula in northwest Iceland. It was formed when magma flowed into a fracture in the bedrock and filled it.  The old land surface that surrounded it eroded away.  When the magma dyke cooled, the rock fractured into horizontal columns that lie at right angles to the cooling surface.  It is about 35 feet high, but only about 5 feet thick. Þingvellir or Thingvellir national park in Iceland, is a site of historical, cultural, and geological significance. The Silfra fissure between the North American and Eurasian continental plates located in Thingvellir National Park. Beautiful clear water that you can see rocks under the water.

It lies approximately 250  km south of the Arctic Circle, making it the northernmost capital of a sovereign state (the capital of Greenland, Nuuk, being located a few kilometers further north). It stretches between two fjords, in an area with numerous hot springs. It is believed, according to the Landnámabók, that the first Norwegian settlers arrived in the Reykjavik area led by Ingólfr Arnarson in 874 AD.
