The remains of the temple of Portico D'Ottavia in the heart of the Jewish Quarter (Roman Ghetto), near the archeological area of the Theatre of Marcellus. According to tradition and some archaeological remains of Ancient Rome this area was occupied by a fish market. The iconic Jewish Quarter of Rome, the oldest ghetto in Europe, is famous for the presence of hidden alleys and small squares, where it is easy to find small restaurants of Italian and Jewish cuisine, and remarkable Roman archaeological remains. The ghetto of Rome is located in one of the oldest districts of the Eternal City, located between the Campidoglio (Roman Capitol) and the Tiber river. Built between 1595 and 1611 in Mannerist style, the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria in Provenzano stands in the district dedicated to the Sienese military leader Provenzano Salvani. Siena is one of the most beautiful Italian cities of art, in the heart of the Tuscan hills, famous for its immense artistic and historical heritage and for the Palio, where the seventeen districts of the city compete every year in Piazza del Campo in one of the oldest horse racing in the world.
