Gioachino Antonio Rossini (1792-1868) lived in this house until the age of 10 and then moved to various cities following his family. Rossini, loved and recognized among the greatest opera composers in the world, is the author of masterpieces such as The Barber of Seville, Guillaume Tell and La Gazza Ladra. Known as the City of Music and the City of the Bicycle, Pesaro was founded by the Piceni people during the Iron Age, to develop as an important center on the Adriatic Sea under the rule of Ancient Rome and later in the Middle Ages.
