Bissau, Guinea-Bissau: Heroes of the Fatherland Square, a pearl of Portuguese colonial urban planning, originally called Empire Square - the central pavement display's the Portuguese Cross of Christ - the main building is now the Presidential Palace, it was built for the Governor, to the right is the PAIGC party headquarters, originally the building of the Commercial, Industrial and Agricultural Association - the central column by architect Ponce de Castro was dedicated to the 'effort of the race', following independence a star was added and it was re-dedicated to the heroes of independence.

In addition to its urban core, the city has Nairobi National Park, a large game reserve known for breeding endangered black rhinos and home to giraffes, zebras and lions. Next to it is a well-regarded elephant orphanage operated by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Nairobi is also often used as a jumping-off point for safari trips elsewhere in Kenya.

Kampala (a contraction of local language words for the hill or the place of the impala) is the capital and largest city of Uganda, a fast growing African city with a population of about 2 million people. The Uganda National Mosque is a mosque located at Kampala Hill in the Old Kampala area. It was completed in 2006 and it seats over 15,000 worshipers. It is also known as the Gaddafi Mosque because it was a present from the late Libyan leader.
