The majestic and stunning frescoed vault inside the church of Sant'Ignazio di Loyola (St. Ignatius of Loyola), in the historic and Baroque heart of Rome. The fresco, depicting the Glory of St. Ignatius, founder of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), is one of the absolute masterpieces of the Roman Baroque. Painted by the artist Andrea Pozzo in 1685, this fresco almost entirely covers the vault of the church with a perspective representation that, between arches, clouds and columns, increases its space and volumes, effectively creating a virtual reality. The work depicts Christ (in the center) who radiates the figure of St. Ignatius and at the corners the allegories of the four continents known until then. In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Super wide angle image in high definition format.

Rome, Italy - May 12, 2018: The Basilica of the Sacred Heart is located in the Castro Pretorio district, near Termini Station and was built between 1879 and 1887 at the behest of Pope Pius IX who, in 1870, laid the foundation stone of the new building. However, due to the annexation of Rome to the Kingdom of Italy, the work was interrupted; it was only thanks to San Giovanni Bosco that construction could be resumed in 1880 and completed in 1887 by the architect Francesco Vespignani. Pyramus and Thisbe are a pair of legendary, ill-fated lovers from Babylon whose story forms part of Ovid's Metamorphoses. House of Loreius Tiburtinus, Pompeii.\n\nPyramus and Thisbe's parents, driven by rivalry, forbade their union, but they communicated through a crack in the wall between their houses. They planned to meet under a mulberry tree, but a series of tragic misunderstandings led to their deaths: Thisbe fled from a lioness, leaving her cloak behind, which Pyramus found and mistook as evidence of her death. Believing Thisbe was killed by the lioness, Pyramus committed suicide, staining the mulberry fruits with his blood. Thisbe, upon finding Pyramus dead, also killed herself. The gods changed the color of the mulberry fruits to honor their forbidden love.
