Alstroemeria, also called the Peruvian lily, Lily of the Incas, Parrot lily, New Zealand Christmas bell, Parrot flower, Red parrot beak, is native to South America. Alstroemeria is best known as cut flowers and lasts as long as two weeks in a vase, but it can also be grown in the garden. Alstroemeria flowers bloom from late spring to early summer and come in many shades of colors such as red, orange, pink, yellow, rose, purple and white.

They are all native to South America although some have become naturalized in the United States, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Madeira and the Canary Islands. Almost all of the species are restricted to one of two distinct centers of diversity, one in central Chile, the other in eastern Brazil. Species of Alstroemeria from Chile are winter-growing plants while those of Brazil are summer-growing.\nAlstroemeria, allgemein als peruanische Lilie oder Lilie der Inkas bezeichnet, ist eine Gattung von Blütenpflanzen in der Familie der Alstroemeriaceae. Sie sind alle in Südamerika beheimatet, obwohl einige in den USA, Mexiko, Australien, Neuseeland, Madeira und den Kanarischen Inseln eingebürgert wurden.
