Zipaquirá, Colombia - June 30, 2016: Some local tourists on the Plaza del Minero near the entrance to the Catedral de Sal, a subterranean church located in an old halite mine, in Zipaquirá, in the Cundinamarca Department of the Latin American Country of Colombia. The altitude is 8,690 feet above mean sea level. The entrance is just below the concrete cross seen to centre right of image; some local tourists are seen moving towards the entrance. To the centre is a climbing wall, shaped like a tree. On the upper level is an area for restaurants; a tall signboard advertises the restaurants and their specialities. There are many identifiable names visible on this monument which was erected by the Association of Minor Asia and the Association of Minor Asia 'Ionia' Rethymnon. The genocide took place after The Young Turk Revolution involving the years 1914-1923 which impacted the Christian minority Pontic Greeks in Anatolia. The Young Turks wanted to 'Turkify' the Ottoman Empire and so a genocidal campaign took place against non-Turkish minorities. Between 1914-1923, about 353,000 Pontic Greeks were killed and 1.5 million were expelled.
