The salmon lifecycle begins with an egg.  As the salmon move on to the Fry and Parr stage they will develop stripe patterns. These small salmon are very vulnerable. They still have a lot of growing to do before they reach maturity.

Different stages of life of an Alaskan red salmon (sockeye, Oncorhynchus nerka). In the ocean (ocean phase) it shows silvery colors, which change dramatically towards reddish after entering rivers for spawning (spawning phase, freshwater phase). July 9, 2020 Valdez, Alaska Commercial fishing in the Valdez harbor involves lots of fish. The pink salmon are gathered up and will soon be taken to canneries.  Catching the dish in the nets is a group egfort.  The v\nMembers of the fishing boat work in unison to bring in the large catch. On this day they are gathering Pink Salmon. These salmon will be taken to canneries to be processed.

A large, freshly caught Steelhead or Rainbow Trout.  Steelhead are a strain of ocean or lake run rainbow trout that return to rivers to spawn.  They are typically larger than resident stream rainbow trout and are genetically distinct.
