Concord, Massachusetts, USA - March 2, 2024: The Old Manse is a historic manse in Concord, Massachusetts notable for its literary associations. The Old Manse was built in 1770 for the Rev. William Emerson, father of minister William Emerson and grandfather of transcendentalist writer and lecturer Ralph Waldo Emerson. n 1842, the American writer Nathaniel Hawthorne rented the Old Manse for $100 a year. The Old Manse The house is located on Monument Street, with the Concord River just behind it. The property neighbors the North Bridge, a part of Minute Man National Historical Park. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966 and is open to the public as a nonprofit museum.
Twenty miles or so from Holly Beach Hwy. 82 ends at the bridge over the Sabine River.  The river marks the boundary between Texas and Louisiana and the river empties into the Gulf of Mexico.  The old lighthouse was completed in 1857 and was deactivated by the Coast Guard in 1952. It is on the National Register of Historic Places, but in very bad repair.
