Many small, white flowers of the Common Yarrow (Achillea millefolium), comprising a single inflorescence, growing in the margins of an agricultural field in central Scotland. The species is native to many areas in the northern hemisphere and has been used by many peoples both to feed livestock and because its essential oils contain many medicinal properties and include the painkiller aspirin.
The wild plant used in traditional medicine to treat wounds. A number of species are popular garden plants.

Achillea millefolium, commonly known as Yarrow or Common Yarrow, is a flowering plant in the family Asteraceae. It is a rhizomatous, spreading, upright to mat-forming. Cultivars extend the range of flower colors to include pink, red, cream, yellow and bicolor pastels. The genus name Achillea refers to Achilles, hero of the Trojan War in Greek mythology, who used the plant medicinally to stop bleeding and to heal the wounds of his soldiers.
