London, England 1800s: The Charing Cross Hotel, designed by Edward Middleton Barry,] opened 1865 gave the station an ornate frontage in the French Renaissance style and extended along Villiers Street. It quickly became popular.

This was the site of one of the earliest Roman forts built against Saxon raids on the 'Saxon Shore'. It later became the site of an Anglo-Saxon monastery before becoming the parish church for Reculver. The tall towers were built in a remodelling of the church in the 12th century.

The Pena National Palace is a Romanticist palace in São Pedro de Penaferrim, municipality of Sintra, Portugal. The palace stands on the top of a hill above the town of Sintra, and on a clear day it can be easily seen from Lisbon and much of its metropolitan area. It is a national monument and constitutes one of the major expressions of 19th century Romanticism in the world. The palace dates from middle-age times, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal.
