By family tradition I too should have been Thomas James, but I was switched to James Thomas! As I understand it from my father (Thomas King) he was in the London Yeomanry, but the exact section is apparently down to the colour of the plume in his hat! We suspect it may be red. When I get more details I'll update this. Note that the writing is that of my grandfather, Thomas Henry. Thomas James was born 4 August 1884 in 3a, Richard Street, Cornwall Road, Lambeth, SE 1. I estimate this to be early 1900s, perhaps ca 1905. On PhotoLondon the photographer, James Duncan Grant, is listed at 83 Newington Causeway, Southwark 1901 - 1909.
