Keywords: For years, the Republican Party (and the anti-Clinton left) have tried to discredit Bill Clinton's electoral success by claiming "Ross Perot did to Bush Sr. was Nader did to Gore," or "Perot split the conservative vote and 'elected' Clinton." The media repeats this lie with no empirical evidence. Nevermind that Perot was pro-abortion, anti-NAFTA, and pro-gay rights. On election day 1992, exit polls were taken asking voters who they'd vote for absent Perot. Clinton still wins, either 46% out of 88% (the rest abstaining or not answering) from VNS, or 50% out of 96% (the rest not voting). Both come out to over 50% of the vote. |
