Unfortunately, these weren't the trees we were expecting to come down. Everyone in Britain (and a few beyond) will know about the 100mph gusts battering the country last week. It all proved too much for two of our leylandii at the back of the house. A combination of circumstances, which seem to be primarily led by some severed roots in an adjacent property, left the things standing like a seven foot wrestler in a pair of stilettos, and down they came. It's hard to count yourself lucky when you're left with a remodelled garden and a big bill to get rid of them, but the truth is it could have been a hell of a lot worse. If you were trying to bring them down, this would have been the direction you prayed for. No injuries and no structural damage. Still, they've got to go, and it looks like another one has to come down with the rest lowered in height significantly. Bah. This is, of course, the time when the trees come down after Christmas.
