It's quite possible that many people in Liverpool will have heard of Frank Green, a local painter who paints pictures of famous (and not so famous) Liverpool Landmarks. Some may even have visited his gallery on Oakfield Road. Less likely however is that they popped into Rob's Shoe Repairs next door! This shop is a delight, with real, proper machines for doing real, proper shoe repairs. I swear you could give this guy a sheet of stiff leather and he could somehow produce a pair of shoes. I did have a chuckle when I handed him the keys and he said, near wistfully, "Ah, the seven lever Chubb. That's a bloody good lock, that. They don't make them like that anymore - too expensive. I've got one on my door though." Needless to say, the two keys he cut for me work very well. And now I know where I can go for a hardcore shoe repair!
