The fire brigade model is now complete! This model has lots of creative details - notice that the radiator grille on the fire engine reappears upside down in the first floor window lintels. Lots of the Lego that I build has what some might regard as unnecessary details. A lot of the technic models have working gearboxes, pistons and crankshafts that you can't really see when the model is completed. More interestingly, you sometimes get details that you can't really notice unless you've actually built the model - kind of a secret handshake between architect and builder. The fire station has such a detail. You may notice that this fire station has a freely swinging bell right at the top. What you can't see is that the belfry comes equipped with its very own, beautifully modelled, bat! It made me smile. Lots.
