He died suddenly last night at some point after he got home from work, and I don't know the reason yet. It's a bit strange that our relationship was often very strained - he wasn't a bad person, we were just very, very different people and worked in very different ways - and yet I do feel very sad about his passing. I know that he was always scrupulously consistent in his treatment of the kids, and a lot of them liked him. That's usually a pretty accurate measure of a person. As my tribute to him, I went out into the garden and snapped one of the fairy ornaments, as he had a near obsession with creepy goth fairies.
