For a few years we've gone for a lovely Christmas dinner at Lyme Park in Disley which is fabulous. This year they decided that they couldn't service our booking (after they'd taken the cash) as they were overbooked. This was annoying, but also left us looking for an alternative. The alternative came in the form of a very nice Christmas dinner at Oakfield Manor, which is in the middle of Chester Zoo. Best of all, we got free entrance to the Zoo as well. Regardless, it was snowing when we were at Chester Zoo and you don't know the meaning of surreal until you've seen an elephant walking in snow! The flamingoes didn't care for it much, and huddled together in their hut, but these Humboldt's penguins were in their element, and tucked into their lunch of fish just before we started in on ours!
