His reputation as a favour asker is notorious almost to the point where it's rare to hear from him without him asking for something. To fail to expand on that would be a huge disservice to his character though. Steve gave up his highly successful teaching career to spread the word of God and become a Christian Pastor. He's one of the most selfless guys you could ever hope to meet, and when he asks for those favours it's always for a cause so worthy that you can't help but bend over backwards to try and help him out. Today was a big surprise though. It was strictly social. He even paid! And it was really nice to catch him up with him again (we used to work together in a previous school but don't see each other very often now). The thing is, I was so taken aback at not being asked for something that instead I found myself spontaneously thinking of ways to help him out! Hence the title...is there really no such thing as a free lunch? Thanks for lunch Steve - I'll pay next time :) It was not without some tiny sense of trepidation that I accepted Steve's lunch invitation last week.
