I ended up shooting into town for them (well, actually walking into town which is rather slower) and whilst there it seemed like a good chance to pop into the Walker Art Gallery for a little nose around. It's never worth photographing paintings, as someone else has always done it already much better than you can, but nevertheless, the Walker only prohibits photography in special exhibitions. This means that I was free to take a shot of this athetic young chap trying to get one up on a rather large snake. This is Leighton's 'Athlete Strugging With A Python' and is cast in bronze. I think it might have been a work in progress towards a life size version that lives in the Tate. Either way, it's very nice.
