As far as I can tell (corrections and additions welcome) this reads: "8.2.15 Many thanks for extra letter received last night - one week of night duty over Sundays seem so strange here, streets always crowded with soldiers from barracks & all shops open. Very down-hearted about work here no one to back one up only all against improvements never be any use & glad to get in an English place again where one can get something done.
