Served in the U.S. Air Force as a photographer from 1968 to 1972. After returning from the Air Force, Dale started his career as a firefighter. He was employed at the Naval Air Station Key West Crash/Fire Department for 30 years. He excelled in his knowledge of firefighting and retired in 2001 as Assistant Fire Chief.
